Description
You will provide the Family Department with support on 50-60+ matters. In supporting them you will: -
• Take instructions from new clients, other referrals and taking and preparing statements.
• Run your own files undertaking all family matters, i.e. divorce, children, financial injunction including legal help matters. Those that progress to full certificates will be fully prepared including the obtaining of certificates prior to the matter being transferred to a solicitor within the department.
• Instructing Counsel and other experts, managing listings and expert availability and on occasion you may be required to attend case conference.
• You will prepare briefs, Form E, drafting chronologies and divorce papers in connection with private clients.
• You will operate our case management system, inputting new files, preparation of bills and client reports, amending existing documents and assisting other team members during busy times including supporting secretarial staff when fee earners are unavailable.
Key Competencies
• You will possess a legal executive qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working with family law would be advantageous though not essential.
• MS Office is essential coupled with keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• To be successful you will have a positive 'can do' approach to work.
• You must be able to demonstrate a wide range of skills including excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team environment, at times under pressure.
