Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society Prizes

Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society Prizes

Newcastle Prize
This Prize has been in existence since 1922 and is awarded to the candidate who having gained a distinction and the highest overall mark from the entries received on any LPC, has after 1st July 2022 but before the 30th June 2023 entered into a training contract with a firm of solicitors practising in the area of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society constituency.  Our area stretches from Berwick upon Tweed in the North, to Durham City in the South and West as far as Haltwhistle.  It does not include Sunderland.  The Prize is always awarded one year in arrears so as not to prejudice a candidate who has opted to take some time out.  It follows therefore that we are looking for candidates who have passed their LPC in Summer 2022 or earlier but importantly started their training contract within the above dates.   Please send details by email with confirmation of LPC marks to the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society as indicated below.

University of Northumbria – MLaw Exempting Degree Prize
This Prize is awarded to the best student (with first class honours) on the above degree course, who subsequently goes on to obtain a training contract in the Society's area.  We are looking at candidates who completed their degree in Summer 2022.  Please email your details to the address given below. We require official confirmation of your marks from years 2, 3 and 4 of the course to be included with your application (a university transcript will suffice).

Applications for both awards should be received by Friday 22nd September 2023. Please email your application to mail@newcastlelawsociety.co.uk as we hope to present the winners at the Newcastle Law Dinner on  20th October 2023.
